In a significant initial move towards tending to expanding battle ability deficits in its capital warships, the Indian Navy's most memorable cluster of aircrew of its recently gained MH 60R "Romeo" helicopter finished their preparation at the US Navy base in San Diego, on April 1.

The 10-month long course remembered change preparing and other high level capabilities for the flexible and deadly MH 60R helicopter - which the naval force has nicknamed the "Romeo". Considering this setback, the naval force contracted for 24 MH-60R choppers in completely constructed condition under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. FMS is a US-drove process in which the Pentagon goes about as a specialist of the purchaser (the Indian Navy), and arranges cost and supply terms with the US seller (for this situation, Lockheed Martin).

FMS obtainments accompany US government ensures on execution. In numerous FMS buys, the unfamiliar purchaser figures out how to acquire the gear less expensive than US military, since the Pentagon benchmarks the cost to what the US military paid for its last acquisition of that hardware.

Close by the FMS acquisition of 24 Romeos, offering is in progress for building another 99 of these helicopters in India through the Strategic Partner (SP) course.

Sikorsky is viewed as one of the world's most achieved helicopter firms. In 1957, it assembled the principal helicopter to convey a US president - Dwight D Eisenhower.
