As good news for former defence personnel, who have not yet received a pension for April, the government has now made it clear that it will be credited to them today. The Department of Defense has highlighted the dental problems that retirees are facing during the ongoing process of digitization and modernization, as the cause of unexpected delays. A "one-off special exception" has already been approved so that all pensioners can receive pensions without further delay.
The announcement was made hours after Congressman Rahul Gandhi attacked the Center for Non-Payment of Pensions. Along with this "betrayal" of the One Rank One Pension Scheme, Mr Gandhi said the Prime Minister-led government had adopted an "All Rank, NO Pension" policy. He added that the "insult" of the soldiers was an insult to the country and demanded the immediate issuance of a pension.
The issue came to the public's attention after Lieutenant General Deependra Singh Hood repeated the anger of the veterans on Twitter. He identified Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and asked him to intervene. He swept the middle and asked, "Is this what we say 'Thank you for your service to the country'?"
The government uses SPARSH, a digital pension benefit system for defense personnel, which requires all retirees to complete identification each year in order to receive a monthly pension. This is normally done in November by all banks serving as pension agencies, but the government has extended the deadline to 31 March 2022 due to the COVID situation. "However, during the April 2022 retirement process, it was found that the annual recognition of nearly 3.3 million retirees had not been updated," the government said in a statement.
The government immediately sent a list to all pension paying banks to share updated identifiers, and as a result, more than 2.65 million retirees were updated on SPARSH on April 25, 2022, leading to successful pension processing for all retirees, he said. .
However, the banks could not confirm the identification of 58,275 pensioners and SPARSH did not receive their identification immediately at the monthly closing date. "Therefore, these pensioners will not be paid an April pension as of April 30, 2022," he said.
To shorten the fate of these retirees, the government approved a "one-time special exemption" and allowed them to complete their identification on May 25. Their pensions will be released today at the end of the day.
